Judge me not by my cuticles.
This month I got my very first Ipsy Glam Bag, and the theme was Pretty in Pink. One of the items in my bag was a full size bottle of Sation nail polish in the shade Love At First Byte.
Love At First Byte initially was disappointing. There was a chance of 2 colors and it was not the one I wanted. The other was a more pastel baby pink. Love At First Byte is very much just a sheer nude. It’s only a little bit darker/warmer than the color of my actual nail beds, and very sheer. But, wanting to test it out anyway, I decided to try a funky French manicure rather than a traditional one because it seemed more spring/summer-appropriate and I’ve never been a huge fan of French manis anyway.
The formula itself, for what it is, is nice. It could go on a little streaky if you’re not careful, but it does level out by itself somewhat so it’s no big deal. Of course, remember this is a SHEER. It’s going to show visible nail line for sure, and probably will even with several coats. It’s really only going to work as a base for a French mani because if you just apply it over your bare nails for a “my nails but better” look, the whites of your nails will look all discolored and weird.
For the tips I used JulieG’s Holla-Peño. I love this green!! It’s so springy and fun. You can tell I freehanded the tips because some of them are really thick and mad crooked, but I was just playing around and experimenting with this type of manicure. I’ve never done them before! If I’m going to do more Funky French I’ll use some kind of guide (incidentally, those round stickers for reinforcing hole-punched documents are ACE at this).
So while I wasn’t WOWed by this polish in terms of color, the formula is nice enough that I would probably try other shades. They do have other much nicer ones on their website — www.misspn.com (it stands for Miss Professional Nail if you’re wondering). Each retails for $5, but now through 5/31 you can get 20% off your purchase at misspn.com with the code IPSY30. The code is only valid for US purchases.
By the way I will be doing a more all-inclusive post about my April My Glam bag if you want? I just figured that since I get mine kind of late in the month you might be all “been there seen that” by then. Let me know if you might be interested?
Cute manicure!!!
I like it. ^_^
Really cute mani! :)
Oh I love this! My favourite thing to do is experiment with funky frenchies! If you want to you can check out a cheeky little post I did where I came up with a few cool frenchies of my own here
