J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Lipstick Review & Swatches

If you haven’t heard of J.Cat Beauty, you’re not alone. This brand is pretty new to me, too! I was first introduced to J.Cat Beauty at IMATS LA just last month, and the brand itself only launched in 2012. Their booth was mobbed, and with good reason. J.Cat Beauty is a budget makeup line aimed at giving us great products at modest prices. So do they deliver? Let’s see.

Meet the J.Cat Beauty Fantabulous Lipstick. Does this packaging remind you of anything? It’s exactly the same lipstick packaging as the NYX matte lipsticks. I like it – it means you can actually see the lipstick in the tube before you buy it. Also makes it easy to pick out whatever shade you want from your makeup bag. It clicks closed securely (at least mine do), which I also appreciate since I do NOT want that getting all over the inside of one of my nice handbags. ;)

The formula on these is pretty nice. They go on very creamy and feel almost like a balm going on (but in a moisturizing way, not in a waxy way). The pigmentation is pretty great, too. Man lipsticks have come a long way over the years haven’t they? If you are familiar with lipsticks like the NYX round lipstick, it’s a similar feeling texture. I think these are more moisturizing though. I wore Vivid Rose out today and received a compliment from one of the MAC artists at my nearest freestanding store! If you like really bright POW pink lips, you’ll love Vivid Rose! I’m not sure about other colors, but this ultra bright pink does stain the lips a bit. Because the formula is so emollient and creamy, you may want to use a lip liner with these to keep the application crisp (or be prepared to do a little clean up afterward). Or I suppose you could always apply them with a lip brush…but I ain’t got time for that!

Over all I really do like Vivid Rose. Apple Pie is “ok” — as many reds do it kinda pulls pink on me because I’m so pink toned myself. Sparkling Pink is a decent shade but it has more of a metallic finish that I did not care for on me. I was expecting something glittery with the name though and was pleasantly surprised to find nary a glitter particle in sight. See for yourself!
