MAC To The Beach Lipsticks

Sorry for the lack of updates! I have been enjoying my vacation in WA. :) Today we went to the mall, and I was able to check out the Macy’s MAC counter and look at the To The Beach collection. They still had most of the collection, so I picked up a few things. I was not at all concerned about Marine Life powder, so I wasn’t too upset that it was sold out. However, it would’ve been kinda nice just to see the darn thing in person since so many people have been freaking out over it!

If you haven’t hauled from To The Beach yet, you might want to get a move on! It’s selling out fast at MAC stores and counters all over the place.

The To The Beach lipsticks from the collection are really pretty, with a shade suitable for just about anyone. The most buzz I’ve heard seems to be about the shade Thrills, which is a repromote from the Rushmetal collection. It’s a beautiful bronzy rose shade that absolutely glows on warm skin. I have very cool-toned skin though, and the color is horribly unflattering on me. Christine at Temptalia has some beautiful swatches of it, and she loves this color.

The shade I chose was Beachbound, a sheer, slightly frosty peach in the glaze formula. It’s pretty darn frosty for a glaze though, and the frost is much more apparent on my lips than when I swatched it on my hand. I’m not so sure this lipstick really works on me, but I am going to experiment with it and see if I can make it work. I will post some swatches soon…my camera phone is MIA at the moment. One benefit to being up in WA state is that it stays bright out MUCH later here than in CA, so I still have time. I am still wondering if perhaps I should have grabbed Funbathing, which is a bronzed plum cremesheen. Cremesheens seem to be a love it or hate it product but I really like them.

The one bummer of the To The Beach lipsticks was Lazy Day. Its name is pretty appropriate because it’s like the developers at MAC were having a lazy day. Light blue-toned pink lustre? We’ve heard that story a thousand times before haven’t we? Bor-ing!

Stay tuned for the Beachbound swatches. You can help me decide if it’s a keeper or not!
