Senna Cosmetics has done it again and created a stunner of a collection for Summer 2013! The Sunglow collection is a relatively small 11-piece collection (small if you’re used to the giant launches of the likes of MAC etc., but plenty for normal people lol) and I have pics and swatches!!!
I’m starting off with the lips from the collection, which are quite lovely.
Senna Sunglow Summer 2013 Lip Product Swatches
First off, lipsticks! The gold is Midas and the bottom shade is called Down To Earth, a really pretty brown-nude with a hint of rose. The lipsticks are beautiful, and a really nice comfortable formula. It’s called a cream formula, but one of them is very clearly shimmery – but it feels like a cream. Really nice. I’m not so sure I like how they look on me, but they’re pretty colors. I worry about Down To Earth being too brown on me. Midas is a good topping shade, or something to mix with gloss. On its own it settles a bit into lip lines (and makes them more apparent due to the nature of a shimmer/metallic finish). Each retails for $20.

The Lip Lacquers are another story. I quite like both of them! Senna Lip Lacquers retail for $20 and have a very creamy, comfy formula. I am recovering from a horrible allergic reaction so my skin (including my lips) is REALLY dry right now. I just slapped these lacquers on without any balm or anything and I am certain my lips were actually improved by them. They’re a bit of a heavier texture and slightly sticky, but I don’t mind because of how good they actually make my lips feel! The 2 colors in Sunglow are called Bonfire and Sunstone. I don’t think I need to tell you which is which. ;)
Senna Lip Lacquer in Bonfire
Bonfire is stunning. It’s more red-orange when I swatch it on my skin, but my lips are pretty pinkish naturally so that makes the gloss appear more of a reddish-pink on. It has a sort of translucent quality to it, but isn’t sheer. I think this gloss would look SO hot layered on top of a firey red (or ORANGE!) lipstick or lip pencil. The photo above was taken in awkwardly SUPER bright lighting, so it appears slightly more washed out than the color actually is. The swatch on my arm is extremely true to color though.
Senna Lip Lacquer in Sunstone is also a really pretty color. It’s a neutral nude with gold shimmer. I decided to try putting it on top of Down To Earth lipstick to see if it made the brownish shade less stark on me.
I know a sort of rose-brown color isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I really like it. I’m not usually one to layer lip products, but Senna’s lacquers really lend themselves well to layering. They don’t just sit on top but rather meld into the lipcolor and mix. It’s much more comfortable to wear.
I haven’t had a chance to really wear these around and see how they wear over time, but I wanted to share the colors with you right away. :) Senna Cosmetics are available at their studio locations and also at sennacosmetics.com.
