Covergirl Outlast Nail Polish

COVERGIRL-Outlast-Stay-Brilliant-Nail-Gloss

I was doing one of my favorite things…prowling a 24-hour drugstore at a strange hour of the day/night, and stumbled across the Covergirl nail polishes. I have known about them for a while but kind of ignored them. Except in this Walgreens, they were about at eye level. And there was a shade that would NOT be ignored…

Ofra Cosmetics Fixline Eyeliner Review

ofra-ofra-cosmetic-laboratories-85253325

Recently I posted my review of Ofra Cosmetics’ Makeup Fixer setting spray, which I love. Another product Ofra gave me is their Fixline Eyeliner. I’m not really a big eyeliner person in general, but I’ve been exploring it more lately so I was interested in giving this a try. [Read more…]

April 2013 Julep Maven Box – It Girl

julepLogo.png

The April theme for Julep Maven boxes was brights, and boy did they deliver. I opted for the It Girl box this month and also added on the color Lena and the Rock Candy Glaze in Candy. The It Girl box included some actual rock candy in it, too. Cute touch. :)

Model in a Bottle Super Gentle Eye Makeup Remover Review

model in a bottle removerIf you’ve heard of Model in a Bottle it’s probably because of their signature product, the makeup setting spray. You also may have heard of their eyebrow sealer, which I’ve heard is absolutely amazing and a must have if you have an issue with your brow makeup moving. But have you heard of their eye makeup remover? I hadn’t, until I was gifted a bottle at The Makeup Show LA’s blogger preview event!

Always curious to try new makeup removers, I was extra intrigued because of the name. It’s called Super Gentle eye makeup remover. Normally I use Bioderma Crealine h20, and I’m a huge huge fan of micellar cleansers because they are SO gentle. I’ve tried other makeup removers that CLAIM to be gentle that aren’t, too. So how does Model in a Bottle’s makeup remover stack up?

Pretty darn well, actually. It definitely lives up to its gentle claim. It’s extremely gentle on my sensitive eyes. They claim it’s safe for contact users and I could see how that is true because it’s so mild. It looks and feels like water, but removes makeup and mascara much easier. ;) The only thing it had a little trouble with (or rather, I had trouble with while using it) is removing Stila Smudgestick eyeliner. However, that shit stays even on my waterline; it’s TOUGH to remove with anything, it wears so well.

The packaging is a clear plastic bottle with a pump that locks and unlocks easily. A+ for that locking and unlocking pump – you won’t need to worry about chucking it into your kit and having it open up etc. The one downside to the packaging is that if you wanted to dip a q-tip in and use that to scrub at your pesky waterproof eyeliner, you’d have to unscrew the whole top off. Pretty small downside though compared to all the positives.

Ingredients:
Water(Aqua), Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Chamonilla Recutita (Matricaria)  Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cucumis Sativas (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Algae Extract, Mugwort ( Artemisia Vulgaris) Extract, Citric Acid, Methylparaben

Overall, I’m a fan! I’ve been using it quite often lately and I am definitely glad to have it in my arsenal. Model in a Bottle products are available from Model In A Bottle and Amazon as well as specialty retailers such as Naimies. The 4 oz bottle is $14, made in the USA, and not tested on animals.

LOVE: CherryCulture Lip Balm

For those of you who don’t know (and seriously, are you new?) Cherry Culture is a site that sells a lot of brands of makeup, mostly inexpensive (like NYX, Styli-Style, Milani, and tons of others). They usually have some kind of freebie, which used to be a cheap lip gloss by I think Arissa that smelled like chocolate. It came with every order. Then they switched to a cherry-scented rollerball lip gloss that I found sticky (and occasionally leaky!) – and smelled like jr high.

Most recently, however, they have switched to the Cherry Culture Lip Balm as their freebie. I made a small haul several months back and since hey it’s free I went ahead and added the Cherry Culture Lip Balm in lime. I love lime scented/flavored things and I don’t often see a lime scented lip balm. Turns out I friggin love this thing. And it retails for $1.99 (on sale for 99 cents right now) or occasionally comes free with your order.

Down side? There isn’t one.

As shown in the picture, it comes in a bunch of scents. There’s actually even more than in that picture. The total lineup is:

  • Lime
  • Chocolate
  • Coffee
  • Banana
  • Peach
  • Raspberry
  • Watermelon
  • Strawberry
  • Grape
  • Bubble Gum

Formula-wise this is nothing groundbreaking or earth-shattering. The ingredients are nothing special. But I love this lip balm. It smells nice and makes my lips feel awesome. What’s not to love? I keep it at my desk at home and apply it while I’m working, and makes me very happy. ;)

If you’re thinking you want to get in on this Cherry Culture action, I have some great news for you! They are having a 20% off sale sitewide in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The code for this sale is PINK20.

Note: I paid for the products in the haul that got me this lip balm for free, but this post does contain affiliate links.
