NYX $1 Sale

NYX Cosmetics has launched their biggest sale ever– the $1 sale! Yes..select merchandise is on sale for just $1. It’s a pretty large selection with lots of great items to choose from. It’s definitely worth checking out. However, there are some catches…

– During the $1 sale, NYX won’t be taking international orders
– Processing your order can take up to 5 days
– All sale purchases are final. No returns/exchanges.

There’s always a catch, isn’t there? Now, some people have reported that the shipping costs were totally crazy. I am not sure why that is, because when I placed my order my shipping was really reasonable at around $7 and change. NYX is headquartered in California, so I know that when my order does finish processing it will arrive over night. Worth the $7 completely.

Not sure what to grab? What got my attention:

– Foundations – Including their black label powder, which is usually a whopping $25. Unfortunately it’s only a few of the shades, but I was happy that it included the 2 most pale shades. <3 It seems the palest and the darkest shades are on sale. I really really hope this doesn’t mean they are going to discontinue them.

– Single Eyeshadows – A selection of shades from their huge eyeshadow collection are just $1. These shadows are high quality, comparable to MAC but very cheap! Now they’re even cheaper.

– False Eyelashes – Like many of you I’m sure, false lashes are only the stuff of experimentation for me. But for $1, I grabbed some to play with.

– Sponges Galore – All of NYX’s fabulous makeup & skin care sponges are just $1. I swear by the cellulose sponges for washing my face and would have grabbed some if I didn’t have a good sized stock pile already. I did grab some wedge sponges though because you need to toss those often so you can never have too many.

Merry Xmas, Now Go Buy Stuff

Hello!

I hope all of my readers who celebrate Christmas had a good one yesterday and got lots of awesome stuff and had fun with friends or family or whatever you do on Christmas.

Christmas time is a special time of year not only because of the whole birth of Jesus thing, but also because of the amazing deals to be had when shopping. ;)

Bath and Body Works has their semi-annual sale going once again, and unless you have been living under a rock or are new to B&BW, you know that the semi-annual sale means Awesome Deals. Last time I looked at their website the classics body lotions were only $3, which includes my favorite B&BW scent of all-time Rice Flower & Shea. OMG it’s the greatest. There are always lots of other deals during the semi-annual sale and they change as the week goes on. Remember kiddies too that B&BW now ships to Canada!

Another favorite of mine, Old Navy is having a pretty amazing after-Christmas sale. There are tons of great deals to be had on new clothes. I love Old Navy, probably even more than Torrid at the moment. The reason why Old Navy is so great is because you can go get a bunch of basic pieces and still have enough cash left to get some spiffy accessories to personalize the outfits. I have my eye on several things. ;)

A site I don’t talk about a lot on the blog, Makeup.com is having a really great sale on their Boutique Brands. The code HAPPY40 gets you 40% off all of their brands in this category, which include Becca, CARGO, 100% Pure, Dermalogica, and more. It’s definitely worth checking out. Another site, Beautorium is offering 50% off select items with the code YEAREND. The items are from brands like Juice Beauty, Pangea Organics, and Dr. Hauschka. Beautorium specializes in natural beauty products.

My beloved Philosophy is having a year-end sale as well. See? Everyone has to jump in on the action. Select items are up to 50% off.

Quick Weekend Recap

Hey everyone…

This weekend was super busy for me! I went to the Stila Warehouse Sale on Saturday morning (early morning!!), and then booked it over to Topanga Mall to meet the one and only Napoleon Perdis! He did my makeup and I learned some nifty techniques.

So, I was planning on some awesome posts complete with tons of photos…except my memory card had other plans. I know I’ve tweeted about this, but for those who don’t follow me on Twitter, my card corrupted itself and all of the picture files were damaged. I am investigating a free software to repair jpegs headers, but I haven’t found something yet. If anyone has a suggestion, let me know! I will work on that for the next couple days. If it’s looking like the photos are a lost cause, I’ll go ahead and do the re-cap posts without them (*weep*).

Look: Green Cat Eye

Here’s a quick eye look I threw together. Mr. Boyfriend helped me take pics of it. :) I usually don’t even do makeup this dramatic, lol. But Linda of My Pretty Pink Box asked me to create a look with these to showcase their quality and pigment.

 
Not sure why the color looks faded in this picture…I was just happy to get a color accurate photo. Btw that’s not a giant zit, it’s a little mole thing I have always had on the side of my nose near my eye, lol.
Breakdown…
Lid – Glamour Doll Eyes ‘Immature’ eyeshadow, which is a really pretty shimmery green-teal. It’s not a color I’d normally gravitate towards, but it’s very pretty and intensely pigmented. Lovely to work with too. Not a lot of fallout.
Outer V and some Lid – Glamour Doll Eyes ‘Grease Lightning’ eyeshadow, an olive/khaki green with gold shimmer. LOVE this color. It’s beautiful. Unfortunately you can’t see it very much in this look because I just used it to make the transition from green to black less harsh.
Liner/Cat Wing – Glamour Doll Eyes ‘Graffiti’ eyeshadow, which is black but has emerald green sparkle. I think the sparkle would show better if I had used the shadow wet. Oops.
Highlight – NARS Bellissima I
Eyelashes have an extra crispy coating (lol) of NYX Doll Eyes mascara.
Brows are filled in with Billion Dollar Brows powder in Taupe, which always photographs much redder than it actually is. It’s truly a seal brown with NO redtones in it whatsoever, but tell that to my camera…
