Alba Botanica Sea Lipids Daily Cream

I just wanted to take a little time to talk to you all about my moisturizer, because this brand/product do not get enough buzz.

I know, I know– how exciting can it be? Well, it’s a pretty awesome product.

I use the Sea Lipids Daily Cream by Alba Botanica. Do you ever get that feeling when you’re walking around in a store…you’re just drawn to something and you want to try it, despite not really knowing anything about it? That’s how I was with Alba. They carry it in my grocery store, a Ralph’s Fresh Faire. They have a pretty extensive selection of natural beauty products! I love just staring at the stuff on the shelves, reading ingredients, and sniffing bottles. I have always struggled with finding a moisturizer that is light enough for my oily, clog-prone skin. I’ve tried so many of the popular ones, like Olay Complete for sensitive skin, Purpose, Cetaphil, Cerave, Garnier, and Biore! And that’s not even all of them. But they all left a really greasy, almost filmy residue on my skin and several of them even broke me out. Not cool.

So, Alba. I must’ve picked up the box and read the ingredients 10 times before deciding to buy. The Sea Lipids Daily Cream gets pretty darn good reviews on Makeup Alley. The average rating is 4.3, with a would-buy-again rate of over 70%. It has a lot of great ingredients for the skin in addition to the marine complex (sea lipids are algae!) like aloe, cucumber, and shea. Interestingly enough, this product is not oil free– it contains almond oil. However, my sensitive and acne-prone skin doesn’t mind that one bit. What really made me want to try it is it says right there on the box that it wears well under makeup. Well hot damn! I was sold. I paid about $15 for it, which I would pay again and again. This product rocks. It’s so light on the skin, and never greasy. This is it– my perfect moisturizer. I should note that this moisturizer contains no SPF. If you are looking for an SPF moisturizer, Alba has one with SPF 15– their Sea Moss moisturizer. I prefer moisturizer without SPF because I like to use MAC Prep + Prime Face Protect with SPF 50.
