Rave: Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Clear Scrub

Upon recent close inspection of my pores (doesn’t THAT sound fun?), I decided I have been slacking way too much on the exfoliating. Experience tells me that exfoliating is key to having great skin. I have been doing well with taking the time to do physical exfoliation, but the chemical exfoliators (aka beta hydroxy acids) are the best for those yucky clogged pores you get around your nose and in my case, the chin too.

Enter Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power Clear Scrub, which has a very long name but it’s worth typing it to tell you about this awesome product! Here is what Neutrogena says about it:

“…clears, softens and gently exfoliates to leave skin smooth and even. Soothing, calming ingredients help reduce irritation and prevent over-drying.

This creamy, super-clearing formula softens and conditions skin while gentle microbeads sweep away dirt, oil and pore-clogging dead cells. Its breakthrough MicroClear technology is clinically proven to boost the delivery of acne medicine, unclogging congested pores and speeding treatment deep and fast to the source where breakouts begin. With naturally derived skin soothers, green tea and cucumber help to reduce redness and relieve irritation, leaving sensitive acne-prone skin soft and smooth instead of dry and tight.”

This scrub does what they say! I like that it has physical exfoliating (microbeads) and chemical (2% salicylic acid). And all that jazz about not drying out the skin or irritating it? TRUE STORY. I have extremely sensitive skin so it was with some trepidation that I tried this scrub out. The first time I used it I scrubbed a little too hard and my face was red for a little bit after the shower. Whoops. Although hey my skin was very soft! ;) Since then I’ve had no issues, and my skin does look less red. The scrub itself smells a little funky because of the cucumbers, but I don’t find it unpleasant. I get a really nice cooling sensation as I use it, too. Feels pretty nifty. I like that because mentally I think I can “feel it working” haha. This also contains glycolic acid (aka alpha hydroxy acid), so I’m hoping it will improve my post-acne red marks that are a b#tch to cover with concealer.

The tube is 4.2 oz, which is pretty good-sized. It takes me quite a while to get through that much product. You don’t need very much at a time, either. I paid about $8. You can get a free sample at neutrogena.com :)
