Rusk W8less Multi 12-in-1 Miracle Treatment Review

This product has possibly one of the longest product names ever. Its official name is Rusk Designer Series W8less Multi 12-in-1 Miracle Treatment. Yikes! What a name! But how does it perform? Find out by hitting ‘read more’. ;)

First, what is this? 12-in-1 miracle treatment sounds pretty amazing. This is what this product claims to do:

1. Acts as a superior cutting lotion.
2. Repairs dry, damaged hair.
3. Adds manageability and silky condition.
4. Strengthens.
5. Gives weightless body.
6. Smoothes and detangles.
7. Tames and controls frizz.
8. Conditions and moisturizes.
9. Delivers incredible shine.
10. Provides thermal defense.
11. Equalizes porosity; seals and protects.
12. Extends the life of hair color, straightening and other chemical services.

That’s a LOT of stuff for one product to do. I love the idea of a does-it-all product though because I don’t like feeling like I need 45 products in my hair all the time. I have a lot of hair, but it has a fine texture so if I put tons of product on it, it starts looking pretty flat and blah with a quickness. Lack of volume is already the thing I like the least about my hair (since growing it out I’ve realized all the volume at the crown has gone BUH BYE unless I work at it).

So is this truly a miracle product that does it all? Well. Kind of. I have mixed feelings. First, can someone who cuts hair please explain what a cutting lotion is? No idea on that one. Here’s how it worked out for me:

What It Did…It did protect my hair from heat as far as I can tell. It did seem to make my hair shiny, and anything that makes my hair shiny makes me very happy. I want my hair to shine like a show pony at all times!!! This leave-in did add body to my hair for sure. Overall my hair felt more or less smooth and frizz free as well.

Where It Fell Short…This leave-in didn’t make my hair all that manageable. It didn’t detangle. My hair is not especially tangle-prone to begin with, and I found myself wanting an additional detangler. It also didn’t offer enough conditioning or moisture. I felt the need to add more conditioner (heaps more actually) to the length of my hair.

And also…I really hated the way this made my hair FEEL to the touch at first. It felt kind of…sticky? And almost like hair spray. I suspect this is due to having too much in one spot on my head, and that’s where I also want to blame the packaging. The instructions on using this product are SO VAGUE. The bottle says “Apply to damp hair, comb through, and style as usual. Do not rinse out.” Okay, but how MUCH do I need to apply? I just applied it liberally all over like I would a heat protecting product since it claims to be one. But my advice is to be really careful to apply this evenly and really comb it through well with a wide tooth comb. If you have extremely fine hair, use sparingly. For what it’s worth, a couple spurts of my trusty Psssst dry shampoo fixed the feeling of my hair right up.

But then therein lies the problem…less product = less of the other effects. Not sure if this product is worth it for the results I do get, simply because I still feel like I need a detangler and more conditioner after! Still needing more products kind of defeats the purpose of a 12-in-1 “miracle”, no?

And thus, I’m torn. I’m going to keep playing with it and see if I can make it work the way it claims to work. If you’re interested in trying it out, it’s available on Overstock for just $9.

Have you tried this? What did you think??
