Would You Put Bee Venom On Your Face?

honeybees

You read that correctly. Bee venom. As in the stuff that makes those stingers really ‘bite’. Would you put that on your face?

Skincare brand Manuka Doctor is saying yes, you totally should! Their skincare line is truly the bees’ knees. Their products are chock full of beeautiful ingredients, the craziest one being Purified Bee Venom. Bee venom is exactly what you think it is – it is stored in a little sac by the stinger on the honey bee.

Why would you want to put this on your face?

That was my first question. Bee venom is comprised of 21 naturally occurring proteins, peptides, amino acids, and enzymes. Surprisingly enough, the venom actually has natural antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties. You’d think it would make things more inflamed, considering. Crazy! Because of those properties, it is helpful in the treatment of acne. It can also help stimulate collagen production and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, making it a valuable anti-aging ingredient as well. Because of that, Manuka Doctor has a huge range of products from serums to cleansers to moisturizers all with purified bee venom.

How do they get the bee venom from the bees?

Manuka Doctor has a proprietary patented method of extracting and refining the venom that is completely sustainable and bee-friendly. They can still make honey and be happy little bees, which makes me happy.

I’m still undecided…would I put bee venom on my face? I don’t know! I don’t know if I’m allergic to bees or not, so I certainly would proceed with caution. ;) But I think it’s pretty neat to learn about emerging technology and ingredients in beauty, so I wanted to share it with you!

Would you try it?!
